Pastor Tommy Murray was born in Washington, DC and raised in Seat Pleasant, MD. As a youth he attended church in the Washington,DC metropolitan area (New Macedonia Baptist Church, Full Gospel A.M.E and God’s Universal Kingdom) and it was prophesied during his 8th grade year at Camp Springs Christian School that he would become a Pastor. After graduating from Crossland High School he attended Prince Georges Community College, Hagerstown Community College and finalized he undergraduate studies at Shepherd University in 2007. He continued his education at Wesley Theological Seminary where he earned his Masters of Divinity in 2015.
Pastor Tommy Murray has served at Asbury UMC in Shepherdstown, WV beginning in 2000 as a lay speaker and in 2006, he was hired as Youth Pastor. In 2008, he was appointed to Pastor the congregation of Mt. Zion UMC in Charles Town, WV. In 2012, Pastor Murray helped merge Mt. Zion UMC together with his home church of Asbury. From July 2012 to July 2017 Pastor Murray served as Assistant Pastor and was assigned to oversee the multimedia team, Youth Ministry, and Worship team.
Pastor Murray and his wife Heather have been married for 16 years. Heather is a public-school educator. She has compassion for people and enjoys teaching aerobics, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family. They have a blended family with 6 children. Donyelle (24), who attends Marshall University Graduate School, Angel (19) who attends Wilberforce University, Cyrus (16), Heaven (15), Jael (12) and Titus (10).
Pastor Murray has a heart and gift to spread the Good News of Christ in a unique way that is timely and relevant to the New Millennium Generation. He encourages, inspires, and challenges all people to live a life of excellence. Together, He and his wife strive to do the work of the Lord and love God’s people.
